A Second World War pillbox (possibly a type 24) located at TQ 8383 7886 above the beach north of Allhallows-on-Sea. This pillbox is one of a number located along the coast forming part of the extensive wartime coastal defences around the Thames and Medway rivers. It lay within a line of anti-tank cubes and dragon's teeth which extended around the coast at Allhallows-on-Sea (NMR Monument number:1536310). Beyond the edges of Allhallows-on-Sea the defences continued east and west as minefields (NMR Monument Numbers: 1536303 and 1536338). This pillbox and the associated anti-invasion obstacles have now been removed. It was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1)
