Summary

A Second World War pillbox (possibly a type 24) located above the beach north-east of Allhallows-on-Sea. This pillbox is one of a number located along the coast forming part of the extensive wartime coastal defences around the Thames and Medway rivers. It lay at the eastern end of a line of anti-tank cubes and dragon's teeth which extended around the coast at Allhallows-on-Sea (NMR Monument number:1536310). The defences continued eastward around Allhallows marshes as a minefield (NMR Monument Number: 1536338). This pillbox and the associated anti-invasion obstacles have now been removed. It was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
