Full Description
In February 1999 The Canterbury Archaeological Trust excavated on the site of the former Cattle Market on the north side of Canterbury. The work was undertaken prior to the building of new housing and the sitecode was MW99 and the work followed an evalution undertaken in 1998 (MW98).
A residual assemblage of worked flints and pottery suggested prehistoric settlement from the Neolithic or Bronze Age onwards in the immediate area, perhaps situated on the slightly higher ground to the east and north of the site. (1)
