The earthwork remains of a length of probable medieval or post medieval sea wall seen to link two former counter walls on the edge of Stoke Marshes. The bank can be traced for c.255m, extending eastwards, then curving through 90 degrees to the north. The bank was mapped from Environment Agency lidar imagery as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of a length of probable medieval or post medieval sea wall at TQ 8535 7639, seen to link two former counter walls on the edge of Stoke Marshes. The bank can be traced for c.125m, extending eastwards, then curving through 90 degrees to the north. This area of marshland lying on either side of the Yantlet Creek has the remains of numerous former counter walls from various phases of land reclamation in Allhallows and Stoke Marshes. This bank was mapped from Environment Agency lidar imagery as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1)
