Summary

The earthworks of an early 20th century military road can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1946. This road was built by 1908 to provide access to the Admiralty site on the south western coast of Grain and ran south west from Wallend for 1.5km. It continued in use during the Second World War but was demolished in the building of the post-war BP refinery. It was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
