Summary

A possible First World War coastal battery and associated range range finder located close to the shore opposite Grain Tower. This was mapped from RAF aerial photographs taken in 1942 as part of the the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape project. It is possible that the battery was in use during the Second World War. The site appears as a pair of irregular buildings c.4m x 5m set within a square fenced area which are mapped on the 4th epoch Orndance Survey map of 1933.
