Wind conditions at Deal on the 3rd "WSW - violent gale". (1)
`Ramsgate, 4th Nov...The ARIADNE, Gilbert, from Portsmouth for London, was abandoned during the gale yesterday; the crew were landed here. She had lost her anchors, cables, and sails, had four feet of water in her hold, and the pumps were choked when they left her.' (2)
