Summary
The site of a former 19th - 20th century sheepfold recorded on historic Ordnance Survey maps (1st epoch (1879), 2nd epoch (1896) and 3rd epoch of 1908.), and the present day map where it is recorded as a sheep wash. The map sources depict a single small building within a sub-divided fenced off area in the corner of three low-lying fields in Shorne Marshes. The fenced area is located at the entrances to the three fields enabling sorting of stock from each field. This site was recorded during the course of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
