Monument record TQ 77 SW 1125 - Earthwork remains of a low linear bank of uncertain date seen to extend into Higham Marshes northwards from Church Street
Summary
The slight earthwork remains of a low linear bank of uncertain date seen to extend into Higham Marshes northwards from Church Street for c.210m. A footpath follows the runs along the eastern side of the bank. This may be the remains of a former field boundary or perhaps a causeway into the marshes. The bank meets the former earthen counter wall - the flood defences curving around Church Street. This bank was mapped from Environment Agency lidar imager as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
