Full Description

Early medieval stake holes and features were excavated at St Mildred's Tannery, Canterbury during an excavation in 1987. The features cut into the floor of an earlier Roman building (TR 15 NW 2153). Larger stake-holes were associated with the insides of the Roman walls, suggsting that they may have been used to delineate or fence off areas within the original building structure. The features are thought to potentially be associated with animal husbandry at the site. (1)
