Summary
The earthwork remains of a post medieval chalk pit can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This pit was situated to the east of Wainscott. It is depicted on the 1886 first edition Ordnance Survey map, labelled 'Old Chalk Pit'. This earthwork, which has since been levelled, was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
