Summary
The eroded earthworks of post medieval field boundaries and chalk pits can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1952. These were situated to the north-west of Little Hermitage. Most of these were presumably levelled in the construction of the junction of the A226 and the A289 whcih crosses the northern half of the site, the remainder appear to have been levelled through ploughing. They were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-2)

Full Description
The eroded earthworks of post medieval field boundaries and chalk pits can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1952. These were situated to the north-west of Little Hermitage and were centred on TQ 7190 7076. Most of these were presumably levelled in the construction of the junction of the A226 and the A289 which crosses the northern half of the site, the remainder appear to have been levelled through ploughing. They were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-2)
