Linear banks, probably Medieval or Post Medieval sea defences, located about one kilometre east of Hoo St Werburgh slightly inland of the present bank of the Medway, have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features are similar to, and possibly associated with, linear banks just to the west (Monument 1547450) and east (Monument 1547455) and others farther to the north. The sea defences comprise a fragmentary double bank which follows slightly sinuous course from north west to south east, ending adjacent to the present sea wall.
