Full Description

A possible medieval/post-medieval gravel or clay quarry was excavated at Barton Mill Road, Canterbury during an evaluation in 2004. The possibel quarry comprised a feature with a stepp sided profile, over 1.1m in depth. The feature is undated but is suggested to potentially be medieval or early post-medieval in date, as it is cut by 17th or 18th century features.
Medieval and/or post-medieval agricultural soils are also present in this area of the site, one layer of which was associated with peg tile. (1)
