Full Description

Three "Ostenders" lost in a single incident:

`Nov. 30, Rye:...The three vessels cast away at Dungeness are said to be Ostenders, though Frenchmen were in them. Some of the wine has been saved.' (1)

The original nationality of the vessel would have been Flemish; Ostend is now in the modern state of Belgium and the nationality has been attributed accordingly .

There are two entries for this loss in the United Kingdom Shipwreck Index, under Sussex (BC) and Kent Mainland (BD).
