Full Description
Site of Gas Works, Boundary Road, Ramsgate as shown on the 1st Edition O/S map and the Ramsgate Town map. The buildings have since been demolished.
A heritage assessment of buildings located in the northern gas works site revealed that the office building (TR 36 NE 2507) at the site was built between 1896-1907. The existing workhop building was constructed at some point between 1927-1939. This structure has since undergone a number of alterations, including replacement of the roof. Both buildings were extended and invested in during the 1970s, resulting in a number of alterations to both structures. The town crest is located on the office building at the site.
A wall to the south of the is thought to represent part of the earlier (late 19th century) gasworks at the site, potentially predating the office buildings at the site. (3)
