Full Description
Elements of post-medieval buildings were excavated at The Old Coach House, Dover Road in 2015. Features identified at the site include walls and post-holes. Many of these are thought to relate to 19th century outbuildings associated with The Old Coach House - originally the Halfway House Inn. The remains of at least two buildings have been identified through the works and are visible on historic OS maps and 1946 aerial photography of the site.
A large quarry-like feature was also identified at the site and thought to post-date the post-medieval building remains at the site.
Earlier features excavated at the site include prehistoric tree throws and a pit (TR 24 NW 252), and Iron Age pits and a gully (TR 24 NW 253). (1)
