Full Description

`...drove ashore near Sandown Castle in a terrible tempest, master and the boy drowned; the rest of the crew all saved and taken to Deal. Most of the wine was saved, but the vessel and fruit were lost.' (3)

Sources (1) and (2) interpret the name of the vessel as SUSANNAH CARMICHAEL; according to source (3) the vessel's name is SUSANNAH and that of the master Carmichael. Source (2) also gives a reported date of loss based on the dates of the newpaper issues.
