Full Description

A modern gasworks was constructed in Broadstairs and St Peters before 1932 AD. Buildings relating to the gasworks are visible on the 1932 and 1945 OS maps and in a 1940s aerial photograph.
The gasworks is described as having been bombed on the 28th of September 1942. Three bombs damaged "the boiler house and engineers’ workshop, a gas holding tank and part of the railway embankment. A fourth bomb fell in a coach shed to the north but did not explode" (from the original report, 1).
The gasworks went out of use in the 1990s, with some building to the east of the site surviving to the present day. (1)
