Full Description
A prehistoric worked flint assemblage was identified during a watching brief carried out at St Nicholas Court Farm, St Nicholas at Wade in 2011. 20 pieces of worked flint were recovered, 12 dating between the Beaker period to the Bronze Age, and 8 of unknown date. The flints were identified in a scatter across the site measuring roughly 30m wide by 42m long.
The earliest piece of worked flint at the site dated between around 2400-1550 BC and comprised a round thumbnail scraper. Bronze Age artefacts recovered from the site include a combined piercer and scraper, a possible core, an end scraper, a possible side scraper, and a series of scrapers, two of which may have been knife and scrapers combined.
Eight pieces of undated worked flint comprised a denticulate, two knives, a flake, and a series of four scrapers. (1)
