Full Description
A probable Second World War emplacement or redoubt was identified at the Weald Grammar School, Sevenoaks during an evaluation in 2021. The feature was represented by a mound comprising a a timber structure, mounded sand with loam capping, a trodden surface, and a scoop. Linear variegation associated with the structure has been interpreted as the result of wheel rutting or footboards, and the loam capping may have been the result of upcast soil employed as a camouflage measure.
It is suggested that the structure was built and manned by the Home Guard. (1)
