The site of a former Second World War defended locality comprising barbed wire entanglements, gun emplacements, buildings and slit trenches protecting the coast at the mouth of the River Wantsum. These features were mapped from RAF vertical aerial photographs taken in 1941(RAF/S647 V 31 06-NOV-1941 and RAF/S381 V 84 07-AUG-1941). The sea wall and Wantsum River have been altered since the Second World War and these features are recorded as demolished structures and levelled earthworks on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 05-MAY-2018 and Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 25-MAY-2012.
