Full Description
Site of Second World War road block gun emplacements in Chislet Marshes Chislet Marshes visible earthworks in RAF/106G/UK/1724 RS 4038 10-SEP-1946. The features were later noted as levelled earthworks on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021.These features comprised a three lines of gun emplacements and two pillboxes (MKE123730 & MKE123733) located on an embankment to the south of a road block on the road - Thanet Way - forming part of a three-sided rectangle of defences around the southern side of the road made. These features were subsequently noted as demolished on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021.This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024.(1-2)
