Full Description

Archaeological features including post-holes, pits, and ditches/gullies identified at the site may have formed part of a medieval farmstead. The features were identified during a 2018 evaluation carried out, and were associated with an artefactual assemblage dating to around 1050 to 1225 AD. The animal bone assemblage and environmental material suggests mixed agriculture with animal husbandry and cultivation of cereals. Fragments of quern stone were excavated from the site, indicating that crop processing may have been undertaken at the site or nearby. (1)
