Full Description
A military installation of Second World War date was visible as earthworks and structures on US/7PH/GP/LOC286 V 5008 19-APR-1944. The features were recorded as levelled on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. The site includes one gun emplacement formed of a pennanular earthwork with entrance to the south-east at TR 3275 6364 and a second, formed of a sub-circular hollow, at TR 3278 6369. At least six small structures positioned alongside the nearby drainage ditches may be stores or other material for the gun positions. The features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
