Summary

The Royal Hotel and Assembly Rooms, built 1769, destroyed by fire 27/10/ 1882. They are shown on the 1st (1862-1875), 2nd (1897-1900) and Margate - Kent XXV.8.2 :1874. Previously known as "Smith’s Hotel," then as "Fox’s Hotel," "Smith’s Tavern" and "Benson’s Hotel," before finally changing name after 1794, to the "Royal Hotel."
