Full Description
A possible medieval rectilinear settlement enclosure mapped from aerial photographs EARTH.GOOGLE.CO, 3/2022 ACCESSED 20-MAY-2024. This site appears as part of a rectilinear ditched enclosure c.40m long with the centre obscured by a large amorphous macula cropmark suggesting digging or quarrying of the site. This is one of a number of similar settlement sites located just below the 5m contour at the mouth of the former Brooksend inlet (now silted up). The enclosures are spaced at between 100m and 150m apart along the shore. This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet Landscape mapping project in 2024 (1).
