Monument record MKE124283 - Field system or settlement of uncertain date, Westgate-on-Sea

Slight earthworks of a field system or settlement of uncertain date, within the golf course at Westgate-on-Sea, seen on Environment Agency Lidar. The site appears as a complex of embanked rectilinear enclosures clustered around a central larger sub-divided enclosure (130m x 150m). Further fragments of bank interpreded as possible field boundaries can be seen to the east and and west. There are records of Romano-British pits and ditches at the NW extent of the site close to Sea Road ( TR 36 NW 23) which may be associated with these remains. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. (1)
