The site of two phases of Second World War Air raid shelter King Ethelbert Secondary School visible on RAF aerial photographs - RAF/26J/BR194 VC 6 10-JAN-1941 and RAF/58/618 V 5153 11-APR-1951. When photographed in 1941 two large earth-covered shelters were located to the south of the school buildings,Both with a maine E-W axial shelter, one with three perpendicular embanked shelters extending to the south and one with four lobes. A photograph of the site taken in 1951 show a single rectangular covered shelter with a single entrance to the east in place of the eastern earlier site. These shelters were mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. all trace has been removed (1-3).
