Full Description

The site of a Second World public air raid shelter on open ground on the east side of Buenos Ayres, Margate visible as an earthwork in RAF/HLA/540 RV 6007 17-MAY-1942. The feature is later visible as a levelled earthwork on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. The shelter is an earthen covered (possibly semi-sunken) structure with two entrances to the east. This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. Removed after the end of the war. (1-2)
