Full Description

Slight earthworks of a possible Iron Age or Roman rectilinear settlement enclosure, south of Quex Park house within Quex Park, visible on LIDAR Environment Agency DTM 07-DEC-2017. The enclosure is defined by ditches with the eastern and parts of the northern and southern sides and two slightly rounded corners visible. It measures c.45m N-S and at least 43m W-E. The western side is obscured within woodland, though parts of the the ditches projecting into the wood can be traced for a short distance. A possible spur of ditch extends south from the SE corner and a macula/pit from the southern side. This site was mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. (1)
