Monument record TR 37 SE 1454 - Marine Slipway, Margate
Summary
The Ordnance Survey map, surveyed in1872 (published 1874) shows a Slip Way projecting into the Harbour, opposite the Hoy Inn on The Parade. It is shown as having a capstan for hauling ships out of the water onto the slipway so that they can be repaired below the ship’s waterline.
