Monument record TQ 87 NW 1196 - The slight earthwork remains of a former field boundary of uncertain date
Summary
The slight earthwork remains of a former field boundary of uncertain date mapped from Environment Agency lidar imagery as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. This may be associated with other similar banks noted in the area. Some appear to be former field boundaries in use at the time of earlier 19th and 20th century mapping. Others, however, appear to have been out of use for longer and can be seen to pre-date medieval/post medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. Fragments of these earlier field boundaries can be seen extending across the ridge of high ground which extends south-west of Allhallows.
