Summary

A former counter sea wall surviving as a substantial embankement at the edge of the marshes north-east of Lower Stoke. This wall curves around two sides of a low-lying field, appearing to have drains running along the inner and outer margins of the bank. It is marked on the first editon Ordnance Survey map of 1879 through to the 4th edition map of 1939. It was mapped from 1961 RAF aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
