Full Description

A linear bank forming part of a defended locality of Second World War date was visible as an earthwork on US/7PH/GP/LOC295 V 5006 19-APR-1944. It was recorded as a levelled earthwork on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021.

The bank measures about 224m long. It is similar to embankments on the north and south sides of St Nicholas at Wade that articulate with other elements of the St Nicholas at Wade Defended Area established during 1940-41. Its north end terminates at a trackway and is close to the north-west end of a crenellated slit trench (MKE124734). At least five anti-landing poles were erected on the bank or close to its edge (MKE124058). It was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
