Full Description
RCHME AP shows staple enclosure and 2 macula features, one consisting of possible pits.
A staple enclosure and two irregular macula features have been identified in fields just to the east of Seamark road near Monkton roundabout. It appears that one of the macula features contains evidence of pits. These features were visible in aerial photographs taken for the Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments of England as to record the cropmarks of Kent. (1)
An extractive pit of Medieval/post-Medieval date was visible as a cropmark in NMR 2639/3127 01-AUG-1985. The pit may cut a Medieval enclosure (MKE16093).
This feature was previously recorded as a macula in record MKE16093 (see authority 1). It was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (2)
