Full Description

Barbed wire entanglements of Second World War date were visible as structures in RAF/HLA/407 V 77 28-FEB-1942. They formed part of defences to the south-west corner of the former grass outfield of RAF Manston and were removed before the construction of the crash runway in 1943-44. These features were recorded as demolished structures in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021 and were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
