Full Description
A slit trench and pillbox of Second World War date were visible as an earthwork and a structure in RAF/HLA/564 V 6029 01-JUN-1942. They were components of defences on the east flank of RAF Manston, positioned in the south-east corner of the airfield. They were removed during the construction of RAF Manston's crash runway in 1943-44.
These features were recorded as a levelled earthwork/demolished structure in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021 and were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
