Full Description

Married Quarters of 20th century date were visible as structures in RAF/HLA/564 V 6029 01-JUN-1942. They were located at RAF Manston's 'War Flight' area on the east side of the airfield.

Nine of an original 11 huts providing Married Quarters for station personnel and their families were present at the time of this photography. They were drawn on a map of RAF Manston dated 7 April 1930 (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference MFC-78-24-0883). An adjacent area of disturbed ground was interpreted as a building platform, although a structure was not recorded in that position on the 1930 map.

These features were recorded as demolished structures in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. They were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
