Full Description

A water tank of Second World War date was seen as a structure in RAF/HLA/564 V 6013 01-JUN-1942.

A building at this location of slightly different footprint was described as 'Gymnasium and Swimming Baths' on a plan of RAF Manston dated 7 April 1930 (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference MFC/78/24/0883). By the time of a mid-20th century plan (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference X004/2380) the rectilinear structure visible in this photography was described as 'Static Water Tank'.

It was recorded as an extant structure in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. It was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
