Full Description

A coal bunker of 20th century date was seen as a structure in RAF/HLA/407 V 78 28-FEB-1942. It was served by the station railway (MKE124211). It had an earthwork bank against the exterior of its south and west sides. It was described as 'Coal Pound' on a plan of RAF Manston dated 7 April 1930 (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference MFC/78/24/0883) and as 'Coal Yard' on a mid-20th century plan (RAF Museum, Hendon, reference X004/2380).

It was recorded as a demolished structure/levelled earthwork in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. It was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
