Full Description
An incomplete ring ditch with a diameter of 15m seen in fields near Shottendane Farm visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs: NMR 3120/1036 06-AUG-1986 and EARTH.GOOGLE.COM JUL-2017 ACCESSED 13-NOV-2023 and mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. This is likely to be the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. The southern half is truncated by a modern trackway. A second larger, complete ring ditch (TR 36 NW 91) lies immediately to the north-west and the grave cuts of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery can be seen as cropmarks cutting into both ring ditches. The cemetery and second ring ditch are recorded separately. (1-2)
