Full Description
A barbed wire entanglement forming part of a defended locality of Second World War date was visible as structures and cropmarks in RAF/HLA/564 V 6010 01-JUN-1942. Although parts of the entanglement were still in place at the time of this photography, some had been removed and its postion there was indicated by vegetation growth.
The barbed wire entanglement enclosed a defended locality on Telegraph Hill and was linked to a similar entanglement surrounding a nearby anti-aircraft gun battery to the north-west. It included a length of wire to the east and another to the north-east that terminated at Alland Grange, all forming part of defences on the western flank of RAF Manston.
The feature was recorded as a demolished structure in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. This feature was mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
