Monument record TQ 77 SW 1158 - The earthwork remains of linear boundaries of uncertain date, possibly part of a later prehistoric or medieval field system
Summary
The earthwork remains of linear boundaries of uncertain date, possibly part of a later prehistoric or medieval field system. The longest element these linear banks coincides with the line of the parish boundary between the parishes of Higham and Cliff &Cliffe Woods and the boundary between Higham and Frindsbury. An inverted L-shaped bank forms a rectilenear enclosure with the parish boundary close to the point where the three parish boundaries meet. A third isolated length of bank/boundary was seen 160m to the west running parallel to the parish boundary. These linear features were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
