Monument record TQ 67 SE 1271 - The earthwork remains of a probable post medieval to 20th century stock watering pond within Shornemead Marshes
Summary
The earthwork remains of a probable post medieval to 20th century stock watering pond within Shornemead Marshes. The pond appears as an irregular rectangular water-filled depression (13.8m x 27m) with up-cast material forming parallel banks on the long sides and a trace of bank at the north-western end. This is a form of pond seen at several locations in the marshes of the Hoo Peninsula. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
