Full Description
The Isle of Thanet Smallpox Hospital in Haine was opened in the Spring of 1902, taking in new patients as well as patients from the Northwood Hospital prior to its closure. In July 1948, the Isle of Thanet joint Isolation Hospital's status as a municipal hospital ended when its administration was taken over by the National Health Service(NHS). The Hospital finally closed in 1986 and the site was sold for redevelopment.
