Monument record TQ 67 SE 1296 - A large ring ditch, probably the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow

Summary

A large ring ditch, probably the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. The ring ditch has a diameter of 15m and a break in the southern side. This is one of a group of nine ring ditches ranging in size from 10m to 20m in diameter. This barrow cemetery was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. Amongst the barrows the faint traces of a large rectilinear enclosure was also recorded. All the ring ditches and the rectilinear enclosure have been recorded in individual NMR Monument records.
