Full Description
A medieval/early post-medieval wall was excavated at Ileden Farmhouse, Ileden Farmhouse, Kingston during an evaluation in 2017. The feature measured 0.48m in width, was aligned N-S and was constructed of pale yellow-white mortar containing flint nodules. The wall is thought to continue beyond the limits of the excavation, with a line of flint nodules identified to the east of the feature.
These walls are thought to relate to earlier undocumented structures at the site, alongside a series of compacted chalk floor surfaces and a brick floor, alongside material associated with the demolition of the structures.
Ceramic building material dating from the medieval or post-medieval was identified during the evaluation. (1)
