Dew pond (or sole pond), visible on the 1st and 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map. Recorded during 2024 Kent Downs National Landscape Historic Ponds project.
Preservation:Pond on historic maps but not visible on current OS (ghost pond)

Site type: Dew pond (or sole pond)
Description: Irregular shaped large pond to the rear of the Smithy - perhaps used by the forge to cool down cartwheels. Seen on 1st and 2nd edition OS, faint on 1m LiDAR. aerial photos show a distinct area where it once was.
