A borehole survey was carried out at the site in 2025 in advance of proposed restoration works. Two boreholes were drilled, one up to 0.34m in depth, the other up to 0.54m in depth. The first borehole recorded a sequence of topsoil overlying the modern backfill of the pond, overlying the 'Clay with flints' base of the pond. The second borehole recorded topsoil overlying a weathered pond fill/subsoil, overlying a waterlain pond fill, above a 'Clay with flints' layer. The Clay with flints layer is interpreted as the base of the pond. (2)
